the hardest thing about gardening? Digging holes? Keeping bugs away?
No, for me, it's processing all the food I grow. I give so much away.
Here's lamb's quarters from ground to plate. This morning I harvested
about a dozen 4- to 5-foot stalks.

Sunflower life cycle
Sunflowers are among my favorite because they are so showy, pollinators love them, and they produce edible seeds. Sunflowers were among the first food plants domesticated in North America, along with squash, lamb's quarters, and barley.
In early March, my first sunflowers sprouted.

Garden mushroom harvest
Harvested
a bunch of Psathyrella candolleana from the garden and cooked them
with onion, peppers, and tomatoes sautéed in hoisin sauce and served
over wild rice. I went to great lengths in learning how to identify these crumble cap mushrooms. Please read my "Note about eating wild mushrooms" at the end of this post.
