Today I answered a Craigslist ad from someone offering free bamboo. I cut the top off of about 30 giant bamboo stalks, then trimmed off the leaves. Free material.
The ad poster suggested using the bamboo for a patio shade, fishing poles or privacy fence. He was surprised I would use them for kite making, but agreed it would make a strong, light-weight frame.
The strips on the right measure about 18 inches long. The longer strips reach up to about eight feet long. I'll have to split those thicker lengths.
