Today I accepted the Excellence in Digital Media award for the Forest Service's Pacific Northwest Region. What an incredible honor!
It's hard to put into words what it feels like to be recognized for doing something you love. For finding a place you belong. To have natural resource and wildland fire professionals come up to you and say "we need you," and "I've been following your work." It's overwhelming.
The Regional Forester Glenn Casamasa told me he was impressed with my work. I mean, you know my work?
I was proud to share the stage with co-workers from the Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Colville National Forest who worked together on the "Block of 9" project, a collaborative effort under the Good Neighbor Authority that combines timber sales, fuel treatments, and forest health restoration.
I'm so lucky to be in a position to help on a cutting edge forest like the Colville. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
