On a whim, I typed 'kite' in Austin's Craigslist search box and found what could be the purchase of the year:

• 1- 3/4" diameter metal ring for attaching a bridle

• 1- 4 1/2 ft. long 3/8" diameter fiberglass tube
• 5- 40" long 1/4" diameter fiberglass tubes
• 20- 11 1/2" long 3/16" diameter fiberglass tubes
• "The Ultimate Kite Book," by Paul and Helen Morgan (retail $19.95)
