Wow. I just leaned how to make a willow basket!
I've long liked baskets, often marveling at their intricacies when I come across them in stores. I always imagined you'd need some kind of specialized and technical training to make one.
Earlier in the week, I trimmed a bunch of willow shoots that were growing out of the base of a large willow tree in my backyard. As the stack of 3- and 4-foot sticks sat in a pile in the backyard, I started wondering if I could make something out of it. So I looked up willow art projects on YouTube.
These two videos provided a good primer and before long, I had made a basket in one sitting!
