Garden tour and training

I took a tour of Sustainable Food Center's teaching garden during today's "Building Strong Garden Teams" training. Blown away! Garden beds flank a pair of shaded meeting spaces with the colorful SFC building across the Red Line tracks.

A group of 11 leaders from community gardens across the region learned strategies for building strong teams, networked, and solved example problems. The highlight of the class was touring the St. David's Foundation Community Garden at MLK Park, which also doubles as SFC's teaching garden.

Canvas ribbons hung from a tree branch dance in the wind.

The plots are well tended.

The SFC building in all its splendor!

This recently installed apiary includes a glass observation area so visitors can enjoy the bees going about their business.

This closeup of a beehive shows how much space beekeepers have to work with the hives.

Who wants to make music in the garden?

Lovely butterfly sculptures honor the garden's financial supporters.
